Week Nineteen:
“Muffler” Mike Kostiuk:
ALB @ ROC
Rochester. The main concern here for the Knighthawks will be keeping everyone healthy in what could be a lopsided affair.
SASK @ GA
Georgia. I have to go with the hotter of the two teams here. Unfortunately for the Rush, their playoff hopes will take a major blow this weekend.
PCLC @ CGY
Calgary. The Roughnecks outrun Panther City to solidify their hold on the #2 seed in the West (and a Home playoff game).
VAN @ COL
Colorado. The defending champs keep the pressure on Panther City as well as East teams just behind them in the standings.
SD @ LV
San Diego. Seals have too much firepower for Las Vegas, who will keep it close but see their playoff hopes vanish.
Shawn Slaght:
Albany vs Rochester
Pick – Rochester
There’s not much analyzing to be done here. Rochester wants to lock up a playoff spot. Meanwhile, Albany is heading towards winning the Dyson Williams sweepstakes.
Saskatchewan vs Georgia
Pick – Georgia
If Saskatchewan can put together a full 60 minutes they will win this one. The issue is they haven’t been able to do that in the last several games. I get the feeling this will be a high scoring game but Lyle Thompson will pick apart the Rush.
Panther City vs Calgary
Pick – Calgary
The Roughnecks aren’t going to hold back even though they have locked up a playoff spot. It’s a bit of the long shot but first place isn’t out of the question for Calgary.
Vancouver vs Colorado
Pick – Vancouver
My upset pick of the week. Nothing would give this Vancouver more confidence than to play spoiler. Although it’s too-little-too-late, the Warriors are finding their footing.
San Diego vs Las Vegas
Pick – San Diego
As much as I like what Vegas has going for them right now, we’re seeing the high-powered offence we were expecting from the Seals. The only thing that could hamper San Diego is becoming too complacent because they’ve locked up a playoff spot.
Gary Groob:
Albany vs. Rochester
Rochester wins.
The Knighthawks have lost three in a row, and need this game to get back on track. Although two losses were OT losses to Philly, if they don’t right the ship, the Wings could catch them in the standings.
Saskatchewan vs. Georgia
Georgia wins.
The Swarm have been on fire lately, winning six of their last seven games. From a dismal 0-7 start, this team is now fighting for fourth place in the division. Saskatchewan has had a few problems. Goaltending has been a bit of a question mark. If they are to win, they need to have a total team effort.
PCLC vs. Calgary
PCLC wins.
In the upset of the week, Panther City overcomes the crowd, and goalie Christian Del Bianco for the win. Look for Callum Crawford to have a big game. This will be close, and this will be rough.
Vancouver vs. Colorado
Colorado wins.
This will be a lot closer than people think. Vancouver is learning how to win, while Colorado has been so inconsistent this year. Colorado needs this game if they want to stay in the playoff race. They will play like a desperate team, and grab the victory.
San Diego vs. Las Vegas
San Diego wins.
The Seals have finally found their cohesiveness. This doesn’t bode well for anyone on their path. While Vrlegas has played well lately, they aren’t at the level that the Seals are. This game will be over by the half.
Ryan McMichael:
Albany vs. Rochester
Albany
Saskatchewan vs. Georgia
Georgia
PCLC vs. Calgary
Calgary
Vancouver vs. Colorado
Colorado
SD vs Las Vegas
San Diego
