2024 MLB Draft Deep Dive: Billy Amick, 3B, Tennessee

The 2024 MLB draft is set for Sunday, July 14, 2024, in Arlington Texas as part of the 2024 MLB All-Star Weekend festivities. The Phillies will pick at number 27 in the 1st round. Currently, the Phillies have 17 picks in the 2024 draft.

The baseball people here at EOP will keep you updated on the top prospects in this year’s draft. This week we look at our projected twentieth player selection (pick owned by the Toronto Blue Jays) in the 2024 MLB Draft Billy Amick,3B, Tennessee.

Amick logged just 19 at-bats as a true freshman in 2022 but exploded in 2023 to the tune of an eye-popping .413 average with 17 doubles, 13 home runs, and 63 RBI in 46 games.

A right-handed hitter with a 6-foot-1, 220-pound frame, Amick has a simple setup at the plate with a minimal load but has serious strength in his forearms and gets the barrel moving through the strike zone.

He consistently extends well through the baseball, which enables him to drive the ball with authority to all fields. After spending his first two seasons with Clemson he transferred to Tennessee for the 2024 season where he figures to be the team’s everyday third baseman.
