The 2024 MLB draft is set for Sunday, July 14, 2024, in Arlington Texas as part of the 2024 MLB All-Star Weekend festivities. The Phillies will pick number 27 in the 1st round. Currently, the Phillies have 17 picks in the 2024 draft.

The baseball people here at EOP will keep you updated on the top prospects in this year’s draft. This week we look at our projected tenth player (pick owned by the Washington Nationals) in the 2024 MLB Draft. Seaver King, OF, Wake Forrest.

Flyers Let Early Lead Slip Away, Lose to Capitals

A 6-foot, 190-pound middle infielder. King is a twitchy righthanded hitter who dominated the competition in his first two seasons with Division II Wingate (N.C.). As a sophomore in 2023, King hit .411/.457/.699 with 11 home runs and 13 stolen bases.

Then he tore up the Cape Cod League for nine games before joining Team USA in Cary, N.C. He continued to impress scouts during the summer with Team USA and slashed .424/.479/.542 in a 16-game stint with Harwich in the Cape Cod League.

King has the defensive ability to play all over the infield and has spent time in center field with Wake Forest, where he could be a solid average or better defender.

He enters the 2024 spring season as one of the biggest risers in the class, and if he can maintain his offensive production in the ACC while adding some clarity to his future defensive home, he has a chance to be selected inside the first 10 picks.
