Strengths

His fastball averages 97.6 miles per hour with decent movement. He had a bounce back in 2023 after a very shaky 2022. He proved down the stretch to be a reliable 5th starter in the rotation and provided much-needed stability to that group. He was also a late-innings option in the postseason, a skill that cannot be overlooked.

Weaknesses

He hasn’t lived up to the expectations the Phillies had for him after acquiring him from the Rays. His 2022 campaign left a lot to be desired. A strong 2023 season, the instability in the Phillies prospect pitching pool, the injury to Andrew Painter, and the slow development of Mick Abel and Griff McGarry have left the door open for Sanchez.

2024 Projection

With the Phillies pitching staff pretty much locked 1-4 Sanchez will be in play for that 5th starting spot. After fighting back from inconsistencies and injuries in 2022 and the beginning of the 2023 season Sanchez was the stabilizing force in the rotation that the Phillies were looking for all season.
