The Delaware Blue Coats (20-18), NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, came into last nights contest against the Windy City Bulls (16-23) losers of four straight and plummeting in the G-League standings. Earlier in the month, Delaware lost to Windy City but were without both Marial Shayok & Zhaire Smith which obviously had an impact. Last night they would have both as they try to snap the losing streak and make a playoff push.
1ST QUARTER
The game began slow and sloppy as both offenses seemed to be stuck in mud early on in the quarter. Things settled in halfway through with Delawares Marial Shayock leading the way with 7 first quarter points and Windy Citys Jaron Blossomgame right on his heels with 6 himself. The Blue Coats had 7 first quarter turnovers, an ongoing problem this season, but trailed by only one.

2ND QUARTER
The turnovers continued early in the quarter with 3 in the first few minutes but tapered off after around the 9 minute mark with only 2 more the rest of the quarter. 7 foot 4 inch Christ Koumadje began to establish his presence under the basket as well with 16 first half rebounds, finishing the game 13 pts and 24 rebounds total. “Professor” Xavier Munford added 7 in the quarter as the Bluecoats went into the half with a 12 point lead.

3RD QUARTER
Zhaire Smith (12PTS) athleticism shined early in the quarter with steal and score along with being on the receiving end of an alley-oop dunk. Everyone became involved in the scoring as the Bluecoats opened up a close to 20 point lead at one point in the quarter. At the end of the quarter, they had 4 players in double figures as opposed to just one at the half with you know who, Marial Shayock (25PTS) dominating per usual. The Windy City Bulls did make a run late to close the gap to only 10 with Jared Blossomgame who lead all scorers with 26 points and Justin Simon (21PTS) combined for 14 in the quarter.
BLUECOATS 82 – BULLS 72
4TH QUARTER
The Bluecoats pushed the lead to 13 at the 9:27 mark of the 4th quarter and never looked back. They ran away with it from there with 7 players finishing with double figures and the threes continuing to rain from the heavens (16-33 from 3). Jared Brownridge (21PTS) was on fire going 5-8 himself from the three-point line and Justin Robinson who made most of his scoring inside the 3 point strike added another 19 off the bench. He talked about the benefit of having shooters around him who can knock down the three.
When everyone is knocking down shots it certainly makes the game easier as the Bluecoats cruised to a 23 point victory snapping their four-game losing streak.
FINAL SCORE BLUECOATS 122 – BULLS 99
They now head to Washington to face the Capital City Go-Go who are 21-19 and right in the thick of the NBA G-League Playoff run. You can catch every game Live at bluecoats.gleague.nba.com
