The Temple Owls (8-5) went to Annapolis, Maryland to take on the UNC Tarheels (7-6).
Temple never had a chance in this game and was blitzed, 55-13.
The Star and MVP of the contest was true Freshman, Sam Howell who recorded a total of four touchdowns on the day.
Howell accounted for 336 total yards of offense with a 25 of 34 passing game that was good for 293 yards and three TDS.
UNC also pulled off a “Philly Special” that resulted in Howell nabbing a Rontavius Groves two-yard pass.
Howell was not finished putting up numbers and threw in another 53 yards rushing.
The Tarheels never trailed and had a 20-6 lead at the half that was highlighted by Howell’s 278 yards passing.
A 21 point third quarter blew the game wide open with the big play being a 20-yard interception return turned in by UNC’s Storm Duck… clearly a man who’s parents have a sense of humor.
Temple was unable to score in the final quarter while the Tarheels padded the score with 14 more points.
Extra Points: With his 38th Touchdown pass of the season, Howell moves into 3rd place in UNC history for QB touchdowns.
Michael Carter went over 1000 yards rushing while Dyami Brown and Dazz Newsome broke the 1000 yard mark in receiving yards.
For Temple, Anthony Russo went 12 for 20 with 128 yards and a touchdown.
Total yards heavily favored UNC, 534 to 272.
The crowd was announced at 24, 242.
