As things progress could the NBA be the first to take the next step?
Reports are starting to leak that the NBA is moving closer to a decision on the remainder of the 2019-2020 Season.
After a call with Adam Silver about minimizing health risks. The ‘Board of Governors’ is feeling progressively positive about the (re)start-up of the NBA season.
Whether all 30 teams would play out the rest of the regular season or if there could be some sort of play-in tournament for more teams to compete in the 16-team playoff field is still up for debate. Where games would be played is still a factor as well. Although, league facilities are set to open up. Games may be played at only one or two locations on each coast.
Chris Paul NBPA President and Guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, made a conference call with some of the League’s biggest stars this past Monday. Kawhi Leonard, Steph Curry, Anthony Davis, Giannis, and Kevin Durant amongst others are said to have “formed a United Front to resume the ’19-’20 season.
Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the NPBA has been polling players throughout the League on whether they would like to resume the rest of the season.
However, the Players Association has denied all accounts stating “[They have] not authorized any formal poll of its players,”
One thing is for sure. At least the NBA isn’t having the issues the MLB is having right now trying to get Players on board to play due to money negotiations.
Whether the NBA plays out the rest of the season, playoff tournaments, or decides to shut down for the remainder season we should be getting the answers we need very soon.
SEIZE THIS MOMENT, NBA. WE NEED IT!
