Week 14 picks:

“Muffler” Mike Kostiuk:

GA @ HFX

Halifax. Difficult draw for the Swarm after a rough two losses in Week 13. Good news awaits after this game, in the form of their last five at home.

SD @ PC

San Diego. The Seals navigate the first part of their doubleheader, but not without a heavy fight from Panther City.

TOR @ LV

Toronto. The Rock simply have too much firepower for the Desert Dogs to handle.

BUF @ VAN

Vancouver. With Matt Vinc on IR, an already struggling Bandits team seems much more vulnerable to an upset. It might be too late for the Warriors to make the playoffs, but it’s never too late to play spoiler.

CGY @ PHI

Philadelphia. It may only be halfway through their season, but it’s do or die time for the Wings. They need start punching at or above their weight, and no better way than to exact revenge for last week’s loss to the same team.

NY @ ALB

Albany. For me this comes down to goaltending. Doug Jamieson has rather quietly gone 8-0 this year, giving a young FireWolves team an abundance of confidence.

SASK @ COL

Colorado. In typical fashion, the Mammoth begin their late-season surge towards a playoff spot. A young and inconsistent Rush squad proves to be no match.

TOR @ SD

Toronto. In what’s sure to be an instant classic, two teams on the back end of doubleheaders will push each other to the absolute limit. Nick Rose outduels Chris Origlieri in a possible Finals preview.

ROC @ PC

Panther City. Rebounding from a potential front end doubleheader loss, Panther City gets to face a Knighthawks team that has dropped six straight games.

Shawn Slaght:

Georgia vs Halifax

Pick – Halifax

I think the big win against the Rush was just what the doctor ordered for this Thunderbirds team needed. This will be a dogfight as it could really go either way.

San Diego vs Panther City

Pick – San Diego

San Diego wants to keep in the hunt for first place. I think Panther City can give them a run for their money but San Diego has too many weapons.

Toronto vs Las Vegas

Pick – Toronto

I just don’t see how Las Vegas wins this one. Are they improving? Yes, but they aren’t at the same level as the Rock.

Buffalo vs Vancouver

Pick – Buffalo

Buffalo needs a statement game. They’ve had a couple underwhelming matches as of late. Vancouver has their own set of problems and will not be able to keep up with the Bandits.

Calgary vs Philadelphia

Pick – Calgary

Philadelphia’s defence is a mess right now and Zach Higgins is getting no help whatsoever. The Roughnecks are starting to find their groove again.

New York vs Albany

Pick – Albany

This should be a good one. I just really like this Albany team. They are full of young guns that won’t back down to anyone.

Saskatchewan vs Colorado

Pick – Saskatchewan

I’m going completely against logic considering last week’s results. However, the Rush seem to play better on the road and they were embarrassed last week. They are going to come out desperate.

Toronto vs San Diego

Pick – Toronto

Going to have to go with the Rock. San Diego is a great team but they have shown weaknesses through the season. I think the Rock have just a bit more firepower.

Rochester vs Panther City

Pick – Panther City

It’s been a steep drop for the Knighthawks. It’s a head scratcher as it why they are struggling. Meanwhile, Panther City is improving and heading in the right direction.

Gary Groob:

Georgia vs. Halifax

Halifax wins.

These teams are going in opposite directions at the moment.   I’m not sure where the Swarm scoring went?  The Thunderbirds have been dominant lately.

San Diego vs. Panther City

San Diego wins.

This Seals team is resourceful.  If their scoring isn’t coming, their defense is stellar
If their defense isn’t stellar, they get a lot of scoring.   But Callum Crawford could have other ideas…

Toronto vs. Las Vegas

Toronto wins.

Too deep, too talented.  The Desert Dogs are getting better, but aren’t quite at a level the Rock is yet.  Nick Rose has been superb lately, and look for Troy Holowchuk if the Rock get out to a big lead.

Buffalo vs. Vancouver

Buffalo wins.

This Bandits team has been inconsistent to say the least this year.   Vancouver is still finding it’s identity, when it does…look out!  This isn’t that week yet.

Calgary vs. Philadelphia

Calgary wins.

The Roughnecks have a good chemistry with solid scoring, good transition, and an All-Star goalie.  Philly is going to have a hard time keeping up to the speedy Roughnecks.

New York vs. Albany

Albany wins.

I am so impressed with the depth of the Firewolves.  If they can contain Teat, this is an easy W.

Saskatchewan vs. Colorado

Colorado wins.

I think last week we saw the real Mammoth for the first time this year.  Saskatchewan took a beating last week, and if their defense isn’t awake, will take another this week.

Toronto vs. San Diego

Toronto wins.

San Diego actually has more travel this weekend than Toronto.  Two evenly matched teams.  I think the Toronto defense will rise to the challenge.

Rochester vs. Panther City

Rochester wins.

This team is due!  A few heartbreaking losses, but they have the scoring to come out of this.  A rough weekend for Panther City.

Eduardo Curros:

Georgia vs. Halifax

Halifax

San Diego vs. Panther City

San Diego

Toronto vs. Las Vegas

Buffalo vs. Vancouver

Calgary vs. Philadelphia

New York vs. Albany
