All Lacrosse All The Time Weekly NLL Pick ‘Ems

All season long the All Lacrosse All The Time Crew will put together their picks for the upcoming week of NLL games.

Week 1:

“Muffler” Mike…..2-3

Year To Date:

“Muffler” Mike…..2-3

Week 2 picks:

“Muffler” Mike Kostiuk:

Philadelphia. I liked most of what I saw from the Wings last week. Without Tom Schreiber in the lineup, I’m not sure the Rock can generate enough offense to keep pace with Philly.

Albany. Make it two straight season openers that the Bandits fall to the FireWolves.

Georgia. The Mammoth finished training camp with several players banged up including Dillon Ward. The Swarm know they can’t afford to replicate the start they had last season.

Saskatchewan. The Rush bounce back in their home opener, while the Knighthawks have a goalie controversy brewing.

San Diego. Like a few other teams, the Seals are all-in, Championship or Bust this year. Their quest for a Cup starts off right in front of their home crowd.

Panther City. They’re getting their first taste of what it’s like to be atop the standings – methinks they’d like to stay there and savor that experience a little bit longer.

Shawn Slaght:

Philadelphia vs Toronto

Pick – Toronto

Here comes the real test for the Wings. Question marks still remain when it comes to Philly’s defence and they have to contain and very potent Toronto offence. The Wings will give them a competitive game but I have to give the edge to the Rock.

Buffalo vs Albany

Pick – Buffalo

The Firewolves are healthy which means they are going to be better than last year. Unfortunately for Albany, Buffalo is going to be a juggernaut once again. I could see this being a three or four goal game.

Colorado vs Georgia

Pick – Georgia

As of this writing, it appears as though Dillon Ward is still on the PUP list. If he isn’t ready to go, it’s going to be a long night for the Mammoth. Colorado are also known as notoriously slow starters.

Rochester vs Saskatchewan

Pick – Rochester

This one is tough because both teams started out slow last week. Saskatchewan’s goaltending situation has to get better, especially against a team like Rochester. This will be a close one but the Knighthawks will come away with the win.

Calgary vs San Diego

Pick – Calgary

I have a hard time seeing the Roughnecks starting the season 0-2. If they can dictate the pace, they will have a chance to win this game. I think it’s also going to come down to goaltending and I’m not sold on Chris Origlieri.

Las Vegas vs Panther City

Pick – Panther City

Panther City looked very, very impressive last week and I have no reason to believe that won’t continue. As for Las Vegas, they struggled last week and have a few kinks to work out.

Gary Groob:

Philadelphia vs. Toronto

Toronto wins.

The Rock Have added some big pieces with Mark Matthews, Chris Boushy, and Dan Lintner.   While Philadelphia has improved, their defense is still in question.   Also, the offense will be challenged with the number one defense of the last few years.

Buffalo vs. Albany

Buffalo wins.

The Bandits have changed very little, and know how to win.  Albany has improved quite a bit, but this is a tall order early in the season.

Colorado vs. Georgia

Georgia wins.

The Swarm have a lot to prove.  Was the second half to last season what they are really about? The Thompsons, Shayne Jackson, Andrew Kew, etc.  Colorado is talented, but missing a big piece in Ryan Lee.

Rochester vs. Saskatchewan

Rochester wins.

Rochester is a very talented squad, that got even stronger with the acquisition of Ryan Lanchbury today.  Two bona-fide starting goalies, and a solid transition game.  Saskatchewan is a talented team, but has a lot of guys that are newer to the league.  While I think they will be a force down the road, this week could get lopsided quickly.

Calgary vs. San Diego

San Diego wins.

The marquee match-up of the week.  Josh Sanderson’s return to San Diego.   While I think Calgary has a chance to upset the Seals, the firepower of San Diego will keep Christian Del Bianco very busy in the Roughnecks’ net.

Las Vegas vs. Panther City

Panther City wins.

Panther City is flying under the radar once again, but do not sleep on this team.  A well coached team, that believes in Kelusky’s system is very dangerous.   While Las Vegas is improving, they still need more time to gel.

Eduardo Curros:

Philadelphia vs. Toronto

Toronto: absolutely stacked to the gills on offense, defense and goaltending.

Buffalo vs. Albany

Buffalo: the reigning Champs have only bolstered thier lineup…unless Albany has Moses good luck getting anything past vinc.

Colorado vs. Georgia

Gerorgia: Dobson….enough said.

Rochester vs. Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan: this team has too much firepower and too much depth in goaltending to go 0 and 2. With one of the best gm and coaches in the league….expect a decisive win.

Calgary vs. San Diego

Calgary: Christian Del Bianco might keep the goals out but Calgary has line of endless firepower.

Las Vegas vs. Panther City

Panther City: It is scary how good this team is…

Pat Bernard:

Philadelphia vs. Toronto

Buffalo vs. Albany

Colorado vs. Georgia

Rochester vs. Saskatchewan

Calgary vs. San Diego

Las Vegas vs. Panther City

Panther City
