Week 19 picks:

“Muffler” Mike Kostiuk:

SASK @ CGY

Saskatchewan. I might be going against logic here, but I think this difficult stretch of games will have the Rush in a better rhythm than the Roughnecks, who had a week off since their last game.

BUF @ COL

Colorado. This is a huge revenge game, and the Mammoth have not mailed it in as previously believed. Buffalo will have their hands full.

PC @ SD

Panther City. Playoff hopes are on the line in another big revenge game. PC has stepped up in the face of adversity time and time again – add this game to that list.

HFX @ VAN

Vancouver. Tough travel for the Thunderbirds, and the Warriors are playing with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

NY @ ROC

New York. The Knighthawks have just been too streaky this year (whether good OR bad) to win my full faith.

TOR @ ALB

Toronto. The retirement ceremony for Brett Manney isn’t enough to fuel an end to the FireWolves’ recent losing skid.

LV @ GA

Las Vegas. Lost in all the discussion about the struggles of Halifax, Rochester and Buffalo: the Swarm are 1-2 in the first three games of that coveted 5-game homestand to end the season (and were less than 10 minutes from being 0-3). Enter a Vegas team poised to play spoiler.

CGY @ SASK

Calgary. I just don’t see this rivalry going any other way than a split for the weekend, which unfortunately will hurt both teams’ chances at playoffs.

PHI @ PC

Panther City. A huge doubleheader sweep puts PC on the verge of a possible 1st Round home playoff game.

Shawn Slaght:

Saskatchewan vs Calgary

Pick – Saskatchewan

I have no doubts these two teams will split the weekend series. It’s just a matter of who wins what games. The Rush have played best on the road so I’m thinking they will silence the Rough House.

Buffalo vs Colorado

Pick – Buffalo

I don’t know what to make of Colorado. They are wildly inconsistent. Buffalo hasn’t been as dominant as past years but I think they have enough talent to get by the Mammoth.

Panther City vs San Diego

Pick – San Diego

This is going to be a great game. Throwing the records out, Panther City always plays San Diego tough. San Diego will win but only by a goal or two.

Halifax vs Vancouver

Pick – Halifax

It’s honestly tempting to pick Vancouver. The Warriors have turned a corner under Curt Malawsky. However, Halifax has too much to play for and will come out on top.

New York vs Rochester

Pick – New York

The Knighthawks are a head scratcher. They have plenty of offensive power but can’t find the back of the net. Jeff Teat is going to go off and as long as they get solid goaltending from Cam Dunkerley they can come away with the win.

Toronto vs Albany

Pick – Toronto

This will be the try test for the Albany Firewolves. I personally like what they are building in Albany but Toronto’s depth and veteran experience will come out on top.

Las Vegas vs Georgia

Pick – Georgia

Las Vegas is officially out and are playing for next year. Georgia is peaking at the right time and need the win to keep in a playoff spot.

Calgary vs Saskatchewan

Pick – Calgary

See above. Saskatchewan has struggled on their home floor. The Roughnecks win to complicate the playoff picture even more.

Philadelphia vs Panther City

Pick – Panther City

I know it a tough travel schedule for Panther City but there are troubles in Philly. The defence has been porous, offence has struggled to find the back of the net and goaltending has been questionable as of late. I think Panther City will take advantage of Philly’s struggles.

Gary Groob:

Saskatchewan vs. Calgary

Calgary wins.

Both are fighting for a playoff spot.  I give the edge to the goaltending and transition of the Roughnecks.

Buffalo vs. Colorado

Buffalo wins.

The Bandits are pushing for the playoffs.  While the Mammoth are going to fight with everything they have, the Bandits are too much for them.

Panther City vs. San Diego

San Diego wins.

The Seals play very tough at home.  Their defense has gotten stronger, and their goaltending has been steady.  Panther City has the ability to upset here, but I think the Seals offense comes back to life in this game.

Halifax vs. Vancouver

Vancouver wins.

This is my upset of the week.  The Warriors have been playing great the last month.  Halifax has a tendency to take penalties.  If the Thunderbirds spend time in the box, Vancouver will go to town.

New York vs. Rochester

Rochester wins.

The Knighthawks have had a tough time lately, but are also a top scoring team.  Look for them to right the ship in this game.

Toronto vs. Albany

Toronto wins.

The Rock keep getting healthier, and they are looking for home field advantage throughout the playoffs.  Albany has fallen on hard times lately.  Toronto  is so deep that they can throw different combinations to keep the FireWolves off balance all night.

Las Vegas vs. Georgia

Georgia wins.

The Swarm are plain too strong for this version of the Desert Dogs.   Las Vegas has been up and down this season, but the high octane offense of Georgia will have them chasing all night.

Calgary vs. Saskatchewan

Calgary wins.

I know I should be taking the Rush, but five games in two weeks have me wondering.  Both teams have done the same travel this weekend, and I still stand behind my comments from the last game.

Philadelphia vs. Panther City

Philadelphia wins.

Paul Day’s emotional press conference struck a nerve with the Wings veterans.   They will give everything they have to win this game.

Eduardo Curros:

Saskatchewan vs. Calgary

Calgary

Buffalo vs. Colorado

Buffalo

Panther City vs. San Diego

San Diego

Halifax vs. Vancouver

Vancouver

New York vs. Rochester

New York

Toronto vs. Albany

Toronto

Las Vegas vs. Georgia
