“Muffler” Mike….12-14

Week 6 picks:

“Muffler” Mike Kostiuk:

HFX @ ALB

Albany. The FireWolves are playing fast and loose. Halifax will have a tight grip on their sticks after losing a game they should have won last week.

PCLC @ GA

Georgia. The Swarm fly just high enough on the heels of their big win against Buffalo to avoid a minor upset at the hands of Panther City.

COL @ BUF

Buffalo. The Bandits know a second straight home loss will have everyone asking the same concerning questions that are currently being asked about the Mammoth.

NY @ PHI

New York. Nothing is worse than pulling out a desperation win, only to face a team more desperate than you the following week. The Wings fall into the trap, as the Riptide stop searching for answers and finally start delivering them.

Shawn Slaght:

Halifax vs Albany

Pick – Albany

After seeing the Firewolves live last week it’s safe to say they are the real deal. The offence is a well-oiled machine and Doug Jamieson has found him mojo again. Take nothing away from Halifax. This is going to be a close game but the Firewolves will pull out the win.

Panther City vs Georgia

Pick – Georgia

All the momentum is on Georgia’s side. Their win over Buffalo wasn’t a fluke and Dobson is showing he is ready to be a top goalie in this league. Panther City has been wildly inconsistent and that doesn’t bode will for them against Georgia.

Colorado vs Buffalo

Pick – Buffalo

Where do I start? Dillon Ward is clearly not 100 per cent and recent moves make you wonder if the Mammoth are already sellers. Buffalo’s loss to Georgia can’t be sitting well and this will be a bounce back game.

New York vs Philadelphia

Pick – Philadelphia

I just don’t have any faith in this Riptide team. Without getting Jeff Teat some help they will continue to flounder. Despite the injuries, Philly still has a lot of talent and can be a dangerous team.

Gary Groob:

Halifax vs. Albany

Halifax wins.

The Thunderbirds will be frothing at the mouth after last week’s loss to the Wings.  I’m still not convinced on the FireWolves since they haven’t beaten anyone with a winning record yet.  This is their litmus test.

Panther City vs. Georgia

Georgia wins.

This Swarm team is for real!  Dobson in net, a fast transition game with Bryan Cole and Adam Wiedemann as well.  The offense has many options with Thompson, Jackson, Kew, Oakes and Bomberry.  Panther City is feisty, but may have too big of an order in this game.  If the defense can hold up, the offense will be able to score with Crawford, Caputo, Donville, Malcom and Pickup.

Colorado vs. Buffalo

Buffalo wins.

The Bandits were held to just eight goals last week, and were none too happy about the result.  Look for big games from Dhane Smith and Josh Byrne this week.  Ian MacKay has been great on faceoffs this year.

Colorado is still battling the injury bug.  Dillon Ward has not looked like himself in net since coming back.  Getting Joey Cupido back will help the Mammoth, and with Zed Williams firing on all cylinders this will be a closer game than people think.

New York vs. Philadelphia

Wings win.

The Riptide are a disjointed team.  They have really great pieces with Teat, O’Connor, Kearnan, and Keogh, but can’t seem to put it together.  The right side is going to have to pick it up if they have a chance.  Cam Dunkerley will also need to play more like he did last year in net.

The Wings, while still quite injured, have found ways to win with character.  Mitch Jones, Joe Resetarits, Taite Cattoni, Taggart Clark and Sam LeClair are working well together.  If Zach Higgins and the defense can be more consistent this could be over early.

Eduardo Curros:

Albany is on fire and shows no signs of slowing down.

Georgia has too much firepower and with Dobson in goal, Panther City will have their work cut out for them.

Colorado vs. Buffalo

It’s Buffalo‘s week!

Philadelphia is seeing the dividends after beating Halifax… Jeff Teat is a great player but not the entire team. I don’t think NY can do much to contain them.

Pat Bernard:

Halifax vs. Albany

Albany

Panther City vs. Georgia

Georgia

Colorado vs. Buffalo

Buffalo

New York vs. Philadelphia

Philadelphia
