Tuesday night in South Philly the Flyers welcomed the LA Kings into town. At stake is an opportunity for the Flyers to sweep a season series against a playoff-caliber team from the Western Conference. Over the course of the past month, the Flyer’s play has been better. The quality of the team has not. On Tuesday night the Flyers had an opportunity to sweep the season series against a playoff team.
On To The Action
The Flyers coming off a tough loss in Sunday night’s match-up against the Winnipeg Jets. However, the Flyers came right out of the gates in this contest against the Los Angeles Kings. They are bringing good offensive pressure. Owen Tippett pushed through the King’s defense, it was a two-on-one. Leaving Drew Doughty all alone to defend. Owen Tippett makes a great pass to James Van Riemsdyk and he banks one in on goaltender Phoenix Copley. James Van Riemsdyk gets called for tripping plenty on Sean Durzi. Shortly after the Kings retaliate within four seconds on the power play. Captain Anne Kopitar scores for the Kings.
Wade Allison brings the heat! By attacking the offensive zone, getting his own rebound, and finding the back of the net! Flyers go up 2-1 then again the Kings responded quickly. Adrian Kempe goes for a wrap-around and finds Anne Kopitar in front of the net and delivers a goal-tying game two-piece.

2nd period: Not a good start for the Flyers, pre much back to back trips to the plenty box Jamee Van Riemsdyk (second time to the plenty box)for tripping on Drew Doughty and Nicolas Deslauriers for tripping on Quinton Byfield. However Morgan Frost and Ramus Ristolainen with a nice creative play. Morgan Frost with the puck. Ramus Ristolainen goes behind the defenders left alone in front of the net. And scored a goal! Late in the period. Tony DeAngelo turns over the puck and Blake Lizotte passes the puck to Samuel Fagemo with a sliding slap shot tying up the game again 3-3
3rd period: not too much offense from either team. Both Carter Hart and Phoenix Copley played really well.
We go into Overtime 3 on-3 action. And the play everyone is talking about is Tony DeAngelo taking the puck for what looks to be a wrap-around goal and the goaltender himself Phoenix Copley winds up tripping Tony DeAngelo the refs miss the call. Tony DeAngelo is furious with the officials. Gets two plenties. One: Unsportsmanlike. Two: Game Misconduct, allows Kevin Fiala the Big acquisition from the Minnesota Wild. He was getting his 17th of the season. He’ll be representing the Kings for the All-start game.
The OT struggles continue for the Flyers 1-5 this season.
