Burrards And Shamrocks Play to a 10-10 Tie

The Maple Ridge Burrards came from behind to force a 10-10 tie against the Victoria Shamrocks on Friday night.

Trailing by two late in the third period, the Burrards got goals from Dylan McIntosh and Connor Whyte to force overtime. Neither team could find the go-ahead goal in the extra frame.

The Shamrocks continue to sit in fourth place in the WLA standings with a 3-1-1 record. The Burrards are right behind them at 2-3-1.

Marshal King had an eight-point night for Shamrocks, while McIntoah put up six points for the Burrards.

Shamrocks Take First Period Lead

Special teams would shine in the first period as three of the seven goals came on the power play.

Ryan Jones opened the scoring just over a minute into the game on the power play. McIntosh followed that up 4:04 into the period to make it 2-0 for the Burrards.

Tom Vaesen got the Shamrocks within one midway through the first. Patrick Dodds tied up the game on the two-man advantage with 6:58 left on the clock.

Forty seconds later, Cole Pickup scored on the power play to give Victoria a 3-2 lead.

Maple Ridge tied it back up with 3:48 left. However, King scored with 2:55 on the clock to make it 4-3 for the Shamrocks at the first intermission.

Evenly Matched Through Two Periods

Maple Ridge jumped back into the lead early in the second period. Mitch McDole found the back of the net 1:56 into the second followed by McIntosh 42 seconds later to make it 5-4 for the Burrards.

Victoria answered right back with a two-goal run. Casey Wilson scored at 7:17 to tie it up. King put the Shamrocks ahead 24 seconds later.

At the 8:39 mark, Rhys Blake scored unassisted for the Burrards to once again tie up the game.

Jacob Ruest put the Shamrocks back in front with 8:39 left on the clock. However, while on the power play, Garrett Winter would keep the Burrards in the game with 6:14 left.

King and McIntosh would exchange goals to end the second period tied 8-8.

Overtime Solves Nothing

Penalty trouble nearly cost the Burrards in the third period. Pickup scored on the power play 1:49 into the third period to give Victoria a 9-8 advantage. Victoria got another power play and took advantage with Vaesen finding the back of the net with 8:09 left in the game.

In crunch time, the Burrards fought back to force overtime. McIntosh scored with 5:42 on the clock and Whyte made it is 10-10 tie after regulation.

In overtime, Burrards goaltender Brandon Humphrey turned aside five shots, while Pete Dubenski stopped all three shots he faced to end the game in a tie,.
