Burrards Hold Off Adanacs in WLA Season Finale

The Maple Ridge Burrards were able to hold on to a 10-7 win over the Coquitlam Adanacs on Monday night in the WLA season finale.

Joel Watson got the start in goal for Burrards and he faced a lot of rubber. He stopped 42 shots as Maple Ridge was outshot 49-37.

Ryan Jones led the way for Maple Ridge with two goals and added five helpers. It was a total team effort as the Burrards had 10 goals from eight different goal scorers.

Both teams were playing for pride at this point. The Burrards finished in sixth place in the standing at 4-13-1, while the Adanacs finished seventh at 2-16.

Burrards Jump Out to a Huge Lead

It wasn’t the start to the game that the Adanacs had hoped. Kaden Doughty got the Burrards on the board in the first six seconds into the game. It was the start of a 5-0 run for Maple Ridge.

Adding markers for Maple Ridge were Drew Andre, Nick Scott, and a pair from Gabe Procyk.

Anthony Buono got Coquitlam on the board with 6:45 left in the first period. Matthew Delmonico scored 42 seconds later to make it 5-2 for the Burrards after the first period.

Maple Ridge Continues to Pull Away

Jones opened the scoring 3:05 into the second period to put Maple Ridge up 6-2. With 7:58 left on the clock, Keegan Bell scored for the Adanacs on the power play to get Coquitlam back within three.

Unfortunately for the Adanacs, Maple Ridge finished the period with a three-goal run. Dylan McIntosh scored on the power play followed by Jones less than one minute later.

Aiden Murphy rounded out the scoring on the power play with 1:11 on the clock as the Burrards held a 9-3 lead heading into the final frame.

Coquiltam’s Comeback Falls Short

The Adanacs tried to make a comeback in the third period but it fell just short. Jordan Roberts scored 1:32 into the frame to narrow the Burrards’ lead to 9-4.

Connor Whyte replied right back 1:09 later as the Burrards regained their five-goal cushion.

Coquitlam fought back with a three-goal run in a span of 3:10. Bell scored 4:15 into the third followed by Luke Jaber unassisted1:09 later.

Delmonico got the Adanacs within three with 12:35 left in the goal. However, neither team could find the back of the net down the stretch as the Burrards took the WLA season finale 10-7.
