California Sweep

Flyers roll into Anaheim with the winning momentum on their side as they take down the Ducks, even though Anaheim Ducks are not one of the powerhouse teams in the NHL. And now dropped 5 out of their last 6 games. Sitting in the basement of the Pacific division at 10-24-4 with a total of 24 points. However, coming off a huge win over one of the top teams in the Western Conference LA Kings.

The Game

The Flyers started the game against the Ducks with the offense getting aggressive. Noah Cates makes a pass through two defenders to Joel Farabee then turns and makes a 5-hole goal on the Ducks. Goalie John Gibson set the tone of the game. Shortly after Morgan Frost comes up the natural zone and beats defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk one-on-one and cash in a goal. Then at the beginning of the second period.

The Flyers didn’t take their foot off the gas pedal as they continue to bring offensive pressure on the Ducks. Kevin Hayes takes on two defenders pass to a wide-open Travis Konecny where Travis Konecny snipes one between the pipes. Then in the third Scott Laughton makes a wrap-around goal putting the Flyers 4-0. Ducks with the last 30 plus seconds left on the clock find a way to score their first goal making it 4-1 by then it was too late the Flyers won the game.

Let’s take a look at the real MVP for the Flyers and that’s Samuel Errsson only allowing one goal this game, stopping 28 out of 29 shots. He’s done very well on this 3 game California trip. The game has Slowed down for him and he’s reading offensive attack that comes his way. And feel he’ll carry this hot streak Thursday night when the Flyers will face the Arizona Coyotes at 7 pm.

The Flyers signed Defenseman Ethan Samson their 6th-round draft pick in 2021 to an entry-level contract. Samson has 86 points (27-59=86), 17 PPG, eight game-winning goals (GWG), 116 PIM, and 445 shots in 178 career games with Prince George of the Western Hockey League of the Canadian Hockey League North America’s top level in junior Hockey. In four seasons (2019-23). He collected a career-high 12 multi-point games during the 2021-22 season and appeared in four playoff contests with the Cougars during the 2022 WHL Playoffs. He will more than likely be assigned to the Leigh Valley Phantoms in the very near future.
