Can I Get An Encore, Do You Want More?

Could Jason Peters be returning for an encore with the Birds?

Some seem to think so. There has been speculation for quite some time that the Eagles have “major concerns” when it comes to Andre Dillard.

Some questions instantly come to mind.

1) Is the future Hall of Famer coming back as a safety blanket to back up Dillard?

2) Could the Eagles bring Peters back and Dillard finds himself on the trade block?

We should get the answer to those questions in the coming days or weeks.

– “I’d like to have him back. I’d be lying if I said I don’t miss the big guy. I think there’s always a chance… We’ll see what happens, I wouldn’t rule it out”

– Lane Johnson

The Eagles drafted two offensive linemen just last week during the day 3 portion of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Jack Driscoll and Prince Tega Wanogho. Both of these monsters of men come out of Auburn University.

Although Jack Driscoll has experience at the Tackle position, he seems to be best suited at left or right guard. Driscoll is more likely to fill the role left by Halapoulivaati Vaitai who just signed with Detroit Lions. A ‘positionless‘ versatile player that can be a plug and play at any position along the offensive linemen in any situation.

Prince Tega Wanogho is more of your typical (left) tackle. Who I predict to give Dillard a run for his money to become the future starting Left Tackle. Prince is Raw, however, with hard work and getting some experience at the next level can compete to protect Carson’s blindside.

For a team that looks at Quarterback as “the most important position in all of professional sports”. And being a self-proclaimed “Quarterback factory”. Whether it’s resigning Jason Peters or officially promoting Dillard to start at Left Tackle. One thing is for sure. They have to get it right. There can’t be this lingering question of did they make the right decision.

Carson is our Franchise Quarterback who has shown flashes of greatness (and got paid for it). Keeping him upright and healthy is priority #1. If that means resigning Jason Peters then so be it. If they made a mistake with choosing Andre Dillard as the heir apparent to start at Left Tackle. It is certain that they need to find that out sooner than later.

We do not know what type of OTA’s and/or Training Camp we are gonna get going forward. Nor is there a timeline on when things may actually start to move forward to a traditional offseason. It may feel like Howie and Doug have all the time in the world. But, they don’t. This decision needs to be thought out and executed swiftly. Prolonging the situation helps no one. Especially not Carson.

Get it right the first time and move on, Boys.

LET’S GO BIRDS!
