Can It Happen?

With the combination of the Phillies 5-3 and the Braves 2-0 defeat. just one game separates the teams.

Jean Segura and Bryce Harper both drove in a pair of runs to boost Philadelphia to 5-3 victory over the hated New York Mets.

So, Now What?

Atlanta and New York will be looking to grab a game in their respective series. Philadelphia has shaved three games off the Atlanta advantage in just a few short days.

Aaron Nola finally had a quality start with 5 2/3 innings in which he limited New York to a single run on four hits while walking one and fanning 9. Nola improves to 8-8.

Ian Kennedy picked up his 8th save with a solid inning of relief.

What About Segura and Harper?

Segura went deep in the first and third innings to boost the Phils to a 2-0 lead.

A Francisco Lindor ground out scored Brandon Nimmo cutting the lead in half at 2-1.

A three-run seventh signaled the difference in this one. Freddie Galvis chased Brad Miller home with his double followed by Harper doubling home Galvis and Odubel Herrera.

That was all the offense for Team Philadelphia and it was up to bullpen boys to close it out.

A bit over-confident am I? Dominic Smith brought Javier Baez home on a single getting it 5-2, followed by a Brandon Nimmo solo homer to get to the 5-3 final.
