Congratulations, Dan Morgan. Local Legend! Dan inducted in the College Football 2021 Hall of Fame!
We here at Edge of Philly Sports have to give a big congratulations to the current Buffalo Bills director of player personnel, former Carolina Panthers and Miami Hurricanes Linebacker, and all-around badass, Dan Morgan!
Dan grew up in Clifton Heights, PA. Hometown of EoP Sports’ own Joey Sheeran and Al Zaffiri. Just outside of Philadelphia. Where Dan played for the Clifton Heights Rams of the Burt Bell Football League. As a teen played freshman football at Upper Darby High School in Upper Darby, PA then headed down south to Coral Springs, Florida where he attended J.P Taravella High School.
Morgan played Linebacker, Strong Safety, and even played tailback for the Taravella Trojans.
Morgan then took his talents to ‘The U’ of Miami where he played for the Hurricanes in 2007. With each season came more accomplishments. Dan graduated in 2000 as the best Linebacker in the history of Miami Hurricanes Football. Ray Lewis who, right? Dan was also inducted into ‘The U’ of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
In 2001, the Carolina Panthers selected Dan #11 overall in the NFL Draft. In 2004, he was one of the driving forces that got Carolina to the NFC Championship game only to beat our beloved Eagles to appear in Super Bowl 38. That one still stings a bit. However, Morgan went on to set a Super Bowl record totaling 18 tackles.
An ankle injury sidelined Morgan’s 2007 season and eventually bringing his career as a Panther to an end. The team released Dan in February of 2008. After a brief stint with the New Orleans Saints practice squad, Dan announced his retirement in March 2008.
Even with mentioning all those achievements about Dan Morgan his legacy continues to grow. The Buffalo Bills are still in the mix for a Lombardi this season. My Eagles are out and Buffalo looks strong. Good Luck, Dan. Add another notch on the belt. You’re running out of things to achieve. #Clifton
