Defense Steals the Show in Miami

Not much offense but the defense steals the show in a 3-2 victory over the Marlins. Spencer Howard went 4 innings allowing just 2 hits 1 run with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. That would enough to secure a 3-2 Phillies win. That makes it a split of the four-game series against the Miami Marlins.

The defense was the story in this one. Stellar plays from Roman Quinn with a diving catch of a sinking liner. Ronald Torreyes with a great fielding play. Rhys Hoskins cutting off an Odubel Herrera throw to double up a runner at third was what this defense has been missing. Rookie Catcher, Rafael Marchan made a very savvy veteran-like play to pick off Miguel Rojas at first base.

Philadelphia only scratched out eight hits but made them count. Rhys Hoskins (1 for 3 and a walk) slammed his team-leading 11th homerun. Matt Joyce connected for a Sac fly and Torreyes also added an RBI on a Fielder’s Choice. Jesus Aguilar and Garrett Cooper supplied the Marlins runs. Defense steals the show in this four-game finale.
