Delaware Women Get in Win Column

The LaSalle Lady Explorers (2-1) travelled South to Newark, Delaware for a date with the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens (1-2).

A taut first quarter saw a 4-4 tie but, the home team would break away for a 14-9 victory.

An 8-3 second half made the difference in this one.

To The Action

Delaware scored first with Lizzie Hsu (3g) notching her third of the season unassisted with just :27 played.

LaSalle roared back with Tori Rolon (2g), Maddie Henderson (1g) bagging her 5th followed by Lola Quigley (1) all within 2:14 to grab a 3-1edge.

Danica Swech (2g) countered with her 2nd and 3rd to knot it up.

Lizzie Yurchak added her first of two to give Delaware a 4-3 lead.

Maddie Dachowski (1g,1a) closed the opening quarter with a 4-4 score.

To The Second

Delaware went on another three goal frenzy fueled by a free position goal from Delaney McDaniel (2g, 3a), and unassisted markers from Sydni Rosa (2g) and Tori Rolen getting her 7th.

Claudia Steinmetz (1g) momentarily stopped the surge but, Delaware took over from that point. Riley Gillin (1g,2a), Kendra Schweitzer (1g) and Mae Dickens (1g) putting home a Gillin set up to end the half with Delaware just warming up, 9-6.

Will the Run Continue?

2:14 in and Emily Johnston (2g) closed it to a 9-7 contest.

From there, Delaware would blow it open with a five goal run with Lizzy Hsu adding her 4th and 5th, and Sydni Rosa adding her 2nd to end the third with a 12-7 LaSalle disadvantage.

Run it Out Time

The run picked right back up with Lizzie Yurchak and McDaniel pushing it to 14-7.

LaSalle fought back courtesy of Erin Welsh (1g) and Johnston closing the books on the 14-9 game.

Sophia Foohey made 8 stops for LaSalle with Delaware using two Goalies.

Julia Dellarata played the first half making 4 saves and was spelled by Kelli McCreary and her 8 stops.

Delaware went 12-8 on draw controls.

A published writer in JustHockey Magazine, Kevin covered the American Hockey League as well as a monthly story on a pugilist where Kevin used the pen name, The Rink Rat. Neibauer turned his attentions to lacrosse for a few years and does his part, whether podcasting or writing to grow the game. Kevin branched out to his roots and currently provides insight for all Philadelphia teams for Edge of Philly as well as his full-time duties with LaxPhilly.
