DeVonta Smith
School: Alabama
Class: Senior
Height: Some say 6’0 and others say 6’1
Weight: Some say 170 LBS and others say 175 LBS

The Philadelphia Eagles have had a need at the Wide Receiver position for a while now but continue to miss in the draft. Is DeVonta Smith the obvious pick if he happens to slide to 12?
Concerns
Well there actually are things to not like about Smith but they are far and few between. Unfortunately, you have to at least question the weight of DeVonta Smith. It is definitely a concern and may be the reason he falls to the Eagles at 12. Per NFL analyst Greg Cosell, there have been numerous times that Smith has lined up at the X receiver and the corner has squeezed him to the sideline in both 2019 and 2020 film tapes. If he is being physically pushed out at the College level then its likely the same happens at the NFL Level.
Assurance
There is no debating the season we just saw from Heisman Trophy Winner, DeVonta Smith. He has been surrounded by great receivers his whole career at Alabama and has emerged as one of the best ever. His attention to detail and competitive toughness will continue to help him overcome any size issue at the NFL level.
The speed is explosive and he tracks the ball very well. He is one of the best at the college level to finish at the catch point with outstanding body control. The contested catches show he plays much bigger then his size. Steve Sarkisian’s Pro-style offense moved him around in multiple spots of the formation. Did I mention the sure hands?
That is music to any Eagles fans ear. I don’t know how you can’t be happy with the selection of DeVonta Smith. It will be up to the Eagles coaching staff to move him around the formation and get him in space to be successful. Maybe he is a slot guy or maybe he is a Z but with comps to Isaac Bruce and Marvin Harrison, I am taking him at 12!
