Do the Eagles have a serious interest in Jimmy Garoppolo? Rumors are starting to swirl. I, myself, have also toyed with the idea of a low risk/high reward trade for Jimmy G. Few things here. The Niners have to move him. Jimmy G knows he will be traded. The trade compensation will not be too steep.

That will speak volumes to me. In any possible trade, I do believe if Howie were to make this move it will mean they will be in the market to draft a long-term solution under center in this upcoming or next year’s draft. If the Eagles were to trade for Garoppolo one of two things would happen – A) Trade up and draft Kenny Pickett. B) Howie will trade at least one of their three first-round picks for an additional first in the 2023 draft. In hopes to find “their guy” in the next year’s QB draft class.

Garoppolo is 30 years old with one more year on his contract making just north of $24 Million for the 2022 season. A far stretch from the $1.6 Million the Eagles would owe to Jalen Hurts if they decide to ride with Jalen another season. My assumption is Howie would extend the contract an extra year spreading out the money and lowering the salary cap hit.

To Hurts or not to Hurts

Nick Sirianni and Howie Roseman both said in their end-of-season presser that Jalen is their guy and that Jalen knows that as well. However, it would be irresponsible not to take a look at an upgrade at the most important position of any football team. In fact, they should be swinging for the fences in trying to trade for Russell Wilson or Deshaun Watson (once his sexual allegations are cleared and we know he isn’t a huge dirtbag).

The Eagles have a lot of options. They also have a lot of holes to be filled on both sides of the ball. It will be interesting to see which route the midnight green goes. March will be here before we know it. The Birds have a good amount of money to spend and certainly enough draft capital to make some moves. I can’t wait to see how this plays out.
