Dombrowski the Great

With all the ups and downs we have seen and unfortunately felt this past year in Philadelphia sports. One thing we have been fortunate for is the hiring of new Phillies President, Dave Dombrowski. I’m sure working with John Middleton, trying to loosen the purse strings is no easy feat.

What we have seen so far has been nothing less than spectacular. Dave has already retooled a bullpen that was last season’s worst in the MLB. First, with a couple of low risk/high reward trades for a couple of righties, Jose Alvarado and Sam Coonrod. Next, with the signing of free agency’s top reliever, righty Archie Bradley.

Dombrowski has even started to upgrade the farm system. Most recently acquiring infielder C.J. Chatham from the Boston Red Sox. C.J. ranked #14 in BoSox prospect ranks and hit .298 in 2019 for AA and AAA.

Retaining Talent

Dave and the Phillies have also avoided arbitration with a handful of talent that rounds out the roster like Rhys Hoskins, Zach Eflin, and Vince Velasquez.

Last, and certainly not least, we finally officially have a legit offer to the ‘BCIB’, JT Realmuto. Which at what one time looked like JT was all but gone to the highest bidder. Now, feels very real that we get our catcher back. There is a god!

Call Me crazy but I believe this is just the beginning of the magic Dave Dombrowski can pull off. He continues to make solid strategic moves to get this team back to its contender ways. I’m gonna bet we see a few more moves whether it be a trade or a significant free-agent signing outside of JT.

It is easy to see why Dombrowski has had such success with his other ballclubs. Luckily, he is now ours and they can’t have him back. I have high hopes the future of postseasons and rally towels are just around the corner. Keep doing what you’re doing, Dave.
