Drexel Ladies win in convincing fashion, 71-55. The Drexel Lady Dragons (10-6) went into Towson (11-5) for the first of two-weekend games between the squads. Drexel Ladies basketball team came out on a mission and laid the lumber to the Tigers with three huge point runs.
The Dragons actually held a 31 point advantage in this one. Buoyed by a first-quarter 16-0 run, the visitors never looked back and, if anything put it in a higher gear and ripped off an 8-0 second quarter streak that led to a 36-16 halftime Drexel lead.
Yet another 16-0 outburst gave Drexel a 30 point advantage That ended the third with a lopsided 62-31 score and the result was the bench players entering the fray. Towson regrouped and finished strong with a 24-9 quarter to bring the final to 71-55.
Keishana Washington was the standout for the visitors. She went 6 of 13 from the floor and 3 of 5 from long range. Washington finished the afternoon with 19 points. Katie Connolly and Mariah Leonard each added 12 points to the cause.
