Eagles may have a tough decision to make

DeSean Post Insensitive Instagram Stories

Being apart of Sports Media sometimes you hit a crossroads on whether or not to cover certain issues whether it’s from the Field/Court/Ice or outside of the Sports World on a player(s) specifically.

Unfortunately, that is where we are now. We have to report the bad with the good.

DeSean Jackson made headlines the other day with continuing backlash over a post on his Instagram. I will not quote nor share the post. That is what Google is for.

In what was in his original Instagram stories was a quote(s) from Adolf Hitler. Quotes that turned out to be faked. In reply to instant kickback. DJax goes on to defend his decision on the posts. This unbelievably suggests that he doesn’t understand the severity nor the insincerity of his Instagram post.

With Social Injustice in the forefront of the world right now and rightfully so. This leaves the Eagles with a really big predicament. What do they do with DeSean Jackson? Will they do anything?

As of right now, the Eagles have released an official statement via Twitter (@Eagles). It does not state or suggests any type of discipline as of yet. Although, it certainly does leave it open for some type as this story continues to develop.

The Eagles have been in this situation before

Just Seven Years ago, the Eagles had a similar incident with former Wide Receiver Riley Cooper. Won’t go into that either. You know the story. In this case ‘They’ (cough, Chip Kelly, cough) made a terrible decision to basically sweep the heinous remark from Cooper under the rug and continue business as usual. Not only did Riley suck at his job but he also made the organization look terrible on a personal level

Whatever actions the Eagles take or choose not to should be done quick and justifiable. We know the front office has met with DeSean and is looking further into the situation. We also know that they don’t wanna situation as they had with Riley Cooper.

Whether seven years ago or seven minutes ago. Whether a current player or former player. What we know for sure is two wrongs don’t make a right. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles choose to move forward.

** Update: DeSean has released the following apology **

“I post a lot of things that are sent to me. I do not have hatred towards anyone. I really didn’t realize what this passage was saying. Hitler has caused terrible pain to Jewish people like the pain African-Americans have suffered. We should be together fighting anti-Semitism and racism. This was a mistake to post this and I truly apologize for posting it and sorry for any hurt I have caused.”
