Eagles next HC: Best Option or Only Option?
Here is my worry with Howie and Jeff choosing yet another head coach. This will be there 3rd new head coach in 7 years. With the firing of Doug Pederson it has left us to believe that a big part of Doug’s dismissal was simply choosing to keep Carson Wentz as their starting quarterback next season.
The problem that lies here is what if the best option at head coach wants to move forward with Jalen Hurts or even possibly pick a new quarterback at #6 in this years’ draft? Then what? Unfortunately, if things are how we see them. The Eagles will have to hire a coach that is willing to work with Carson as opposed to taking the most qualified person for the head coach position.

That very reason could be why the Eagles have already requested interviews with defensive-minded Robert Salah(49ers) and Todd Bowles(Buccs). It would be a lot easier to then hire an offensive coordinator from within who has already worked with Carson. Say a Duce Staley. Not to mention, hiring a defensive head coach could then hire a liked-minded defensive coordinator to get this team an identity much like the days of Jimmy Johnson. God rest his soul.
There are a handful of teams that need new head coaches and have had weeks to research and even already interview. If Jeff takes too long to narrow down a few candidates. They could panic and may have to scramble to find anyone willing to take the job. That would be a case scenario, of course. Best case, they hit the search hard and quickly to find THEIR GUY, not just any guy.
