Back in March 2016, Howie Roseman made one of his biggest signings to date in Brandon Brooks. Fast Foward 4 years, Guard is a huge need once again. Could the Eagles look towards the draft for a new starting Left Guard? I suppose. Although, I do think they look towards the 2020 NFL Draft. It will be more to solidify the depth.
Heading into Free Agency, The left side of the “trenches” on offense remains a mystery. Peters and Vaitai are expected to sign elsewhere. Matt Pryor will replace Vaitai as the versatile backup aka “next man up.” Andre Dillard will take over the reins at Left Tackle. That just leaves a starting Left Guard.
Enter 3-time Pro Bowler, Brandon Scherff. The 26-year-old, former 5th overall pick, is set to test the market this coming March. Who can blame him? Who in their right mind would want to return to the dumpster fire, Washington Redskins? Scherff would bring a much needed veteran presence to the strong side of the Offensive Line. Adding Brandon would skyrocket this OLine to the best in all the league.
Guard may not be the “sexy” position to target once free agency opens. However, we continue to see the impact the signing of Brandon Brooks has had. #1 priority is always keeping Carson safe and upright. Brandon Scherff is the player this team needs…
Projected 2020-2021 Starting Offensive Line:
- Andre Dillard / Left Tackle
- Brandon Scherff / Left Guard
- Jason Kelce / Center
- Brandon Brooks / Right Guard
- Lane Johnson / Right Tackle
- Joey Sheeran
