The Philadelphia Eagles travel to Minnesota, Home for their 1st ever Super Bowl Championship, to face the Vikings. Both teams are 3-2 with the Eagles on a 2 game winning streak and the Vikings coming off a loss to the Chicago Bears. Vegas lines have the Vikings favored to win by 3 points at home. I think the game will be right around that number in what is shaping out to be one of those close games that give us all a heart attack.
Eagles Offense vs Vikings Defense
The Eagles offense to me is the key to winning this game. This will be Carson Wentz 1st time in that dome which almost definitely means some sort of confusion at points in this game. Last week, outside of the quick start the Eagles offense was very bland and seem to struggle against a solid Jets defense. The Vikings Defense is much better and hasn’t given up more than 16 points in a game this season. The pass rush is going to be a problem that causes turnovers (7). Points should be hard to come by today for the birds and they will certainly have to end the 16 PPG streak to win this game.
Eagles Defense vs Vikings Offense
The Vikings offense hasn’t been as bad as everyone is making them out to be in my opinion. They are not number one in the league but they have had success this year scoring 28 plus points in their 3 wins and 16 or lower in their 2 losses. However, they are a turnover machine (7 through 5 games) and are a very predictable offense focused on the run first with some rollout passing. The Eagles run defense is ranked #1 in the NFL so the Vikings will need to open it up an attack the Eagles 27th ranked pass defense. If you let him, Cousins can pick your defense apart especially with weapons like Diggs and Theilen. My questions is did last week get the pass rush going or was it just the Jets?
The Eagles have brought up Boston Scott from the practice squad with Corey Clement and Darren Sproles out this week. The Vikings coverage hasn’t given up much and Agholor is supposed to return punts today. I have a gut feeling that he gets replaced by Scott will take one to the house this week or at least have a big return to provide a short field for the Eagles offense.
I think this will be a close one that the Eagles will struggle to move the football but ultimately our coaching staff will make the proper adjustments to win this game. Eagles 24 Vikings 23 on a walk-off field goal to win!
