Drafted by the Flyers in the in the 2nd round of the 2020 NHL Draft. He Skates well has a great shot and isn’t afraid to play physically. Excellent on breakouts and makes quick decisions with the puck in the defensive zone. Can play in any situation.

Andrae plays with a high work rate when the puck is close and does whatever he can once he has committed to winning a puck battle. Andrae walks the line well to open shooting lanes from the point, using his edges and body in an evasive way. He’s got excellent vision from the point and can make great plays to set up his teammates with high-danger chances.

Emil Andrae, 21, is a skilled Swedish-born defenseman for the Phantoms. Although he has played in the National Hockey League, he still needs more seasoning in Lehigh Valley. He has consistently displayed promising performance in his game.

Projection

Despite some injury setbacks, including concussions. Granted, despite the small sample size in the AHL and NHL, Andrae is an undersized defenseman with an offensive mindset and can play a 200-foot game.
