Two teams who are going through scoring issues met up at The Nationwide Arena in Columbus in a pre-Thanksgiving tilt.
Nick Foligno picked up his first goal since October 7 and the Blue Jackets seized the lead at the 4:51 mark.
The teams would battle forth and back with zero rewards until a pretty backhander from Tyler Pitlick got Philadelphia even with 6:22 remaining.
Seth Jones lit the lamp with just thirty-six ticks remaining to give the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead after one period.
Brian Elliott, the Philly netminder, who is playing like a starter, took over from that point one and slammed the door on the Blue Jackets.
Scott Laughton bagged his first of the season at the 3:19 mark to get it knitted up before Claude Giroux tallied on the power play at 16:35 to put Philly ahead, 3-2 after forty minutes.
Columbus threw everything that could to solve Elliott. The netminder stood tall turning aside 15 shots to garner Star of the Game honors.
Blue lines:, Shots favored Columbus 30-22.
James Van Riemsdyk played in his 700th NHL Game.
