On Monday night in Western New York, the Flyers officially reached the midpoint of the 2022-23 season. Fresh off of their 6-2 ass-whooping at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs faced the Buffalo Sabres. The result was Sam Ersson’s fourth straight win and first career shutout 4-0 Flyers. The Philadelphia Flyers take down the Sabres.

The Action
The Flyers would strike first Monday night. Zac MacEwen would tally his 4th of the year at the 2:04 mark of the first period from Brown and Deslauriers 1-0 Flyers. Then at 13:31, Joel Farabee with his 9th of the year from Sanheim and TK 2-0 Flyers. The Flyers would finish the 1st period scoring with their third of the frame Noah Cates, his 5th from TK, and Farabee 3-0 Flyers into the Intermission.

No goals in the second. In the third, Wade Allison would score his 5th of the year from Hayes to finish the Flyer’s scoring of the night 3-0. The real story on this night is Errson making his 5th start of the season. He is now 4-0 as the netminder. He also recorded his first career shutout and earned first-star honors on this night.
Farabee’s goal and assist came 1:27 apart in the first period. After Zack MacEwen opened the scoring early in the first, Farabee’s goal gave Philadelphia a 2-0 lead. He then helped set up a goal from Noah Cates that made it 3-0. Wade Allison scored about 2 minutes into the third period.
Craig Anderson made 34 saves for Buffalo, which was shut out for the first time this season and lost for just the second time in the past 10 games.

MacEwen opened the scoring at 2:04 of the first when a pass from Patrick Brown glanced off him and past Anderson. Farabee made it 2-0 at 13:31 of the first after an Owen Power gaffe and fired a wrist shot past Anderson. Cates made it 3-0 when he buried a rebound off a Travis Konecny shot in front.
Next Up
The Philadelphia Flyers take down the Sabres. The Flyers will next play the Washington Capitals in a home and home on Wednesday in Philadelphia and Saturday in Maryland. After that, the Orange and Black will travel to Boston before hosting the Ducks and Blackhawks.
