It’s been 10 Years, Can you believe it?

It is a remember exactly where you were kind of thing.

In what will go down as both one of Hockey’s greatest comeback stories in playoff series history and one of the biggest choke jobs in NHL history. It’s been 10 years since the Flyers roared back from being down 0-3 in the 2010 Eastern Conference Semifinals.

We all know the story but let’s revisit just a bit.

The Flyers were down 0-3 in the series to the Boston Bruins. When it all came down to a pivotal game 4 in Philadelphia – Win or Go Home!

That night’s hero, Simon Gagne with a game-winning goal in Overtime set a new tone to the series. It was evident that Philly wasn’t ready to pack it in just yet. The Flyers then went on to win Game 5 with a 4-0 shutout in Boston. Only to return home with a 2-1 Game 6 Victory in front of an ELECTRIC CROWD!

10 years ago today, Game 7 in Boston. The Bruins get off to a hot start. Before we even know it the Flyers were down 0-3. Much like the playoff series in general, being down by 3 was nothing new to the Orange and Black. From then on that was all she wrote for the “B’s”. The Flyers fought their way back to tie it, 3-3. Michael Leighton shutout Boston in the 2nd and 3rd Periods, saving 22 on 25 shots. And At last, the hero of Game 4, Simon Gagne put the puck in the back of the net past Tuuka Rast for the Game 7 clincher and sending the red hot flyers to the Eastern Conference Finals vs the Montreal Canadiens.

* On a personal note. This series stands out so much to me not only cause of the sheer movie-like scenario that was happening before our very eyes. But, for the reason that I was in the stands for Game 4 and Game 6. Not as someone who covers the Flyers. As a Fan. A Person who loves the Flyers organization. Long before deciding to get into this profession. When I mentioned above the crowd was electric that night. It was an understatement. I have never been apart of a crowd that loud and thunderous in any game I had attended. It made the hairs on your arms stand *

The Flyers went on to defeat the Montreal Canadiens. Taking a 4-1 series victory to advance to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals.

The Flyers lost to the Chicago Blackhawks being swept 4-0. Although, the season didn’t end with us hoisting Lord Stanley’s Cup above proudly. It is the Journey to the Cup that will live inside us forever.

Let’s Go Flyers!
