Flyers Win First Game Without Giroux, 2-1

Kevin Hayes notched a pair of goals, one on the power play to boost the (20-31-1) Philadelphia Flyers to a 2-1 defeat of the (26-25-9) New York Islanders.

Owen Tippett made his debut and clanged a shot off the post

Travis Konecny and Joel Farabee each had the assists on both of the goals.

“They’re not the followers anymore, they’re the leaders,” MikeYeo said.

Casey Cizikas gave the Islanders a first period lead lead with an unassisted goal for his 8th at 12:50.

With 4:22 gone in the second, Hayes buried his sixth courtesy of Konecny and Farabee.

Hayes would do it again,this time on the power play with, once again, Konecny and Farabee getting the helpers.

The lead would hold up with Carter Hart making 26 saves on the Islanders 27 tries.

Ilya Sorokin was busier in the Islanders net.

Philly fired 37 shots and could only score the two times

“We didn’t execute when we needed to,.We were just not really sharp. Just didn’t have enough juice.” Islanded Coach Barry Trotz said.
