Heartbreak on Broad Street! The 76ers came out of the gates firing. Which pretty much anyone who has ever looked at a basketball knew would happen. They mounted a massive onslaught with a 38 point first quarter. The Sixers went to halftime with a 22 point lead thanks mostly to the monster 24 point effort from The Process himself. Embiid was 9 of 11 (81.8%) from the field, a complete turnaround from his 0 for 12 effort in the second half of game 4.
Embiid was unstoppable the entire first half, having his way with whomever Atlanta threw at him. Manhandling any and all challengers. Hack a Ben was back in full effect as were Seth Curry’s three-pointers. Seth Curry built on his 11 first-half points and did not look back. However, those pesky Hawks would not go away and in the 4th quarter, they began to close on the Sixer’s lead. The Sixers Had no Answers
Heartbreak on Broad Street! The Sixers had no answers in the 4th for Atlanta. The Hawks mounted an incredible comeback from down 26 points at one point. The Sixers seemed almost bewildered at times in the 4th quarter wondering where their lead went. The Sixers were down three with 21.9 seconds left hoping for a prayer to be answered. Unfortunately, no one was there to answer the call for the Sixers as they fell to the Hawks 109 to 106. Now they have to travel back to Atlanta with their backs against the wall trying to force a Game 7 back in Philly on Sunday.
