History made in North Philadelphia. The Temple Lady Owls (9-3, 5-2) welcomed the East Carolina University Pirates (3-10, 1-6) to North Philadelphia on a historic Friday. Meghan Hoffman tied a 40-year-old record with her seven assists in the 5th straight win for the Owls, 13-7.

“We knew this game mattered in terms of the postseason, but what talked about more was being prepared to play in games from this point on that feel like they matter more and more and how to handle those emotions.” — Temple head coach Bonnie Rosen
The Game
Hoffman kicked off her historic day with 1:15 played when she set up Abaigael Ryan (2g). The squads were scoreless for the next eight minutes before ECU evened it up off a Nicole Legar (1g) marker. Hoffman and Ryan hooked up again for Ryan’s tenth of the season. Frances Kimel (3g) knotted it up for the final time with 16:19 to play in the half.
Temple put it in overdrive and went on a run that encompassed both halves. Bridget Whitaker (4g) posted a natural hat trick. Julie Schlickling (2g) sunk a solo goal then Whitaker would strike again. MacKenzie Roth (3g) closed the first half with a goal at the :12 mark with the assist going to Hoffman for her fourth of the half and the Owls hooting, 8-2.
Hoffman bagged number five off of a Belle Mastropietro (1g,2a) marker that put it to 9-2 with 29:48 to play. Temple cooled down and ECU couldn’t hit net with both teams putting forth another eight-minute dry spell that was ended by ECU off a goal from Camryn Pennypacker (1g). Roth with her 13th and Lauren Zinkl (1g) pushed it to 11-3 with Hoffman having the helper on each.
The Pirates countered with Payton Barr (1g) and Kimel getting her 20th to cut into the deficit making it 11-5. Roth and Kimel exchanged goals as did Whitaker and Megan Trynski (1g) that closed the door on the 13-7 Temple victory. The same two teams meet up Sunday at 11 AM.
