The Conference-leading Hofstra Pride (21-7, 12-3 CAA) took a trip to the Daskalakis Center on Thursday evening to take on the Drexel Dragons (13-15, 6-9) in a CAA battle. Both clubs had their shooting game working for them and battled the entire contest.
Drexel came out of the first half with a one-point edge and held a lead at 70-69 with 3:32 left in the game. Hofstra went on an 8-0 run and the Dragons simply couldn’t get another lead to drop an 81-74 battle.
Drexel received big games from Camryn Wynter who nailed 14 of his 16 points in the second half. Zach Walton chipped in 21 points but, the story for Drexel was James Butler who scored 10 of the first 17 Dragons points en route to a 23 point 14 rebound performance.
Butler was agonizingly close to a triple-double with 9 assists. Butler is sitting at 329 rebounds for the season. Desure Buie led the Pride with a game-high 26 points in his 40 minutes played. Isaac Kante poured in a 20 point game with Eli Pemberton adding 19. (Check out more college coverage here)
