Houston pounces on the Owls, 68-51. The Temple Owls (3-4) greeted the 13-1 8th ranked, Houston Cougars to the Liacouras Center on Saturday afternoon. Originally scheduled as a match-up with Cincinnati, Houston was named as a replacement due to a Covid shutdown for Cincy.
Led by a double-double from Justin Gotham (10 boards and 14 points) the Cougars, a double-digit favorite showed why. Quentin Grimes and Marcus Sasser chipped in 15 points each.

Temple, plagued by shooting issues, was led by Jake Forrester’s 15 points and 8 rebounds. Khalif Battle helped the cause with a 14 point affair. To show the shooting woes of Temple, they were only 34% from the field with 18 of 53.
They were not much better from long range with a 5 for 20 output from three-point land. It was the first time Temple was featured on the CBS game since December 2015.
