Houston You Had A Problem

On a night when the Philadelphia 76ers did not have a strong defensive stand, the offense
prevailed beating the Houston Rockets 131-127 behind the 42-point outburst from our young
guard Tyrese Maxey. This kid just keeps getting better and better and does not seem to mind
the spotlight at all.

Philadelphia headed down to Houston Friday night a bit short-handed with the absence of our
Superstar Center Joel Embiid is nursing an ankle injury. Being this early in the season it
makes sense that Nick Nurse would rest the big fella to ensure he will be good to go for the
second half of the year. From the get-go, Embiidā€™s presence was noticeable, especially on the
defensive front. Houston, led by Fred VanVleetā€™s 32 points took full advantage of Joel being
gone and it showed especially on the offensive side of the ball. Not being a very good 3-point
team this year Houston went 14/30 from beyond the arch but the Philadelphia 76ers fought to
keep with them

Through the first 3 quarters, the Sixers couldn’t seem to be able to take over the game, but they
were able to keep up going down by as many as 12 points. Tobias Harris (22 points) kept with
his style of playing which has been very good this season, and was just good enough to be able
to pull out a win in Houston.

The bench also keeps showing up big with veteran-like performances by more than one player
Pat Bev and Marcus Morris especially tonight to ice the game. Pat Bev with a timely 3-pointer
from the corner and Morris with a clutch 3-pointer with under a minute left and a foul to extend
the Sixer’s lead in the fourth. In the end, the Sixers did enough to get the job done and get the
win! Keeping a hold to 3rd place in the east with a 21-9 record we look to do everything we can
to stay on par until the big fella comes back.
