Howie Wheeling and Dealing, Birds select EDGE Jalyx Hunt

It is a officially Howie season and the trades are flowing. The Philadelphia Eagles traded the 78th pick acquired in the Cooper DeJean trade to the Houston Texans for pick 86 and 123.

Howie continues to wheel and deal. Howie then traded the 86th pick to the San Francisco 49ers for pick 94 and pick 132 turning 1 pick into 3 picks.

Finally with the 94th pick in the draft the Eagles selected EDGE Jalyx Hunt out of Houston Christian. By most accounts Jalyx has all the traits but right now lacks the technique and form due to being a converted Safety. Per PFF, he has explosiveness, length and power but will need coaching to put it all together.

Apparently, per Daniel Jeremiah via Brandon Lee Gowton Tweet, Hunt is one of Vic Fangio’s favorite players of the 2024 draft. With only 8 sacks in just two seasons the coaching staff certainly has their work cut out for them. Jalyx pass rush grades are high on just about every draft site out there so the Eagles could have landed a diamond in the rough. He could also be another Davion Taylor.
