If Sauce slips, you move up for him. It’s that simple. We are less than one week away from the 2022 NFL Draft. Players continue to slide up and down mock draft boards. So of course, the “what ifs” start to catch your curiosity. The one that stands out to me the most is could ‘Sauce’ Gardner actually slip into the early double digits of the first round?

Now, let me say this, I in no way see Gardner falling to where the Eagles stand now with their first of two first-round picks at #15. Howie has an opportunity to springboard up the draft much like last year’s trade with Dallas moving up a couple of spots and giving up a First and a Third to select DeVonta Smith at #10 Overall.

Howie just pulled off a Blockbuster with the Saints. I won’t go into all the details. You know them. But, the Eagles do now have an extra third-round much like last year to help move up.

Cincinnati Bearcats, CB: Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner

Gardner is the top cornerback in the draft. That is why it is so far-fetched to imagine a fall mid-way through the first round. However, if trades start to pop off for a run on quarterbacks, left tackles, and edge rushers. Then Sauce could see himself getting drafted around or soon after the top 10 spot.

Ahmad Gardner, 6’3″ 190lbs, ran a 4.41 40-yard dash. With an NFL comparison to Richard Sherman. Not too shabby, huh?

Sauce finished his collegiate career for the Bearcats with 99 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 9 Interceptions. Although, those numbers don’t jump off the page. What you don’t see is Gardner only allowed 6.6 yards per reception in 2021. Plays very physical off the line. Extremely competitive and has a bit of cockiness to get in the head of anyone he matches up with.

A few weaknesses. Footwork needs to be a top priority. Quick to grab if he starts to lose the route with the Wideout. Needs to cut down on the pass interference calls. All of which can easily be corrected once OTA’s and Training Camp get on their way.

If Sauce Gardner slips to a range of #11-13. Howie better be running not walking to the phones and do what he needs to do to draft the top corner in this year’s draft. It’s that simple. No excuses.
