The NBA was back with six games last night .. Locally the Sixers were without Ben Simmons as the Nets were short a Kyrie Irving ( Out for the Season) The Home team started fast and jumped to a 20-6 lead only to relinquish it and trail by double digits going into the half. But Joel Embiid would not be denied hitting 4 key free throws down the stretch and then continuing his dominance during the beginning of overtime. It all resulted in a 112-104 win for the Sixers in a game they needed to win. (Check EoP’s coverage of the sixers game last night by clicking here.)
The other thing I walked away from last night with was did Allen Iverson have a challenger for the best small man ever? Trey Young is not even 22 years old. He stands 6’1 in his sneakers. Now while he was not the youngest player to score 50 in a game ( that belongs to Brandon Jennings at 20 years, 52 days ) it still was a huge milestone. And while he to date has not put his body under the beating that an Iverson took I think he is definitely on the watch list for “potentially” to be the best player under 6’2 ever.
MLB
The Astros story continues to spin out of control now with the Red Sox David Ortiz chiming in. He stated he was glad they got caught but still referred to Mike Friers as a snitch. To me, that’s a gut covering all of his bases. If you are glad they got caught, you are glad they got caught. The Astros take the field tomorrow so we will all be watching.

NHL
Kevin Hayes scored a shade under 4 minutes into overtime and the Flyers completed the home and home sweep over Columbus. The Flyers remain the 5th seed but look like a dangerous team heading into the final third of the season.
