It’s Only Spring Training, But I Like It

The Phillies (11-4) continue Spring training with an exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox (4-10). The starting line ups are:

Offense

The red and white pinstripes offense continues to shine in Florida. RBIs were plenty with contributions from Gregorius, Harper, Hoskins, Quinn, Realmuto, and Gosselin. The team was 5-for15 with runners in scoring position. The doubles came from Harper, Realmuto, and Hoskins.

Segura scores on a wild pitch in the 1st inning making it 0-1 Phillies. J.T. Realmuto doubles on a line drive driving in 3 runs. J.T. scores on a fielder’s choice by Bryce Harper and Didi Gregorius was hit by a pitch with Segura scoring. Bryce scores on a wild pitch. 6-0 at the end 2nd inning. Boston’s Kevin Pillar doubles in the 3rd putting the score at 2-6 Phillies.

In the 4th, Rhys Hoskins drives in Harper on a double and Roman Quinn singles and Hoskins scores. 2-8 Phillies stay on top. In the 4th Hoskins scores Harper on a double with a line drive to left field. Roman Quinn adds to the total with a single driving in Hoskins, The end of the 4th has the Phillies up 2-8 over Boston. The Phillies added to their lead with a sac fly by Christian Bethancourt. Alec Bohm scores. Phil Gosselin singled to left driving in Nail Walker. The Phillies are up 10-2 and the score stays that way.

Pitching

Ranger Suarez throws 3 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs and racked up 4 strikeouts. The Bullpen added 7 more strikeouts for a total of 11 against the Red Socks. The only other hit was allowed by Hector Neris.

First Roster Cuts

According to Todd Zolecki, this afternoon the first round of roster cuts have been made the Phillies organization. They option LHP JoJo Romero to Lehigh Valley (AAA), option RHP Adonis Medina and LHP Cristopher Sanchez to Reading (AA) and reassign LHPs Kyle Dohy, Damon Jones and Zach Warren to minor league camp.
