Jeff Teat Ties PLL Record In Win Over The Outlaws

Jeff Teat tied the PLL record for most points in a season as the New York Atlas thumped the Denver Outlaws 17-4 on Friday night.

Teat had six goals and three assists for nine points to tie the record of 44 points in a season. And, oh yeah, we aren’t even at the All-Star break yet.

The other storyline in this game was the play of rookie goaltender Liam Entenmann. He received his first start in goal for the Atlas and allowed only four goals with an unheard-of 77.8 per cent save percentage.

The only real bright side for the Outlaws was at the faceoff dot. Luke Wierman won 15 of 25 draws, outdueling one of the best in Trevor Baptiste.

Atlas Jump Out To A Big Lead

The New York Atlas jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Baptiste opened the scoring 15 seconds into the game. Teat then made it 2-0 with 8:05 on the clock.

Jake Stevens would find the net 23 seconds later and Xander Dickson would finish off a Teat pass with 6:34 on the clock to make it 4-0.

Connor Shellenberger scored Atlas’s fifth goal of the quarter on the power play with 5:45 left to play. Teat would make it 6-0 with 4:00 left.

The Outlaws finally got on the board with 1:11 left when Dylan Gergar buried a Sam Handley pass to make it 6-1 after the first quarter.

New York Takes Huge Lead Into The Half

Baptiste struck again right off the opening faceoff in the second quarter to put Atlas up by six. Teat would make it 8-1 for Atlas on the power play at the 6:59 mark off a feed from Bryan Costabile.

Payton Rezanka made it a 9-1 game with 4:24 left on the clock. However, Gergar scored again for the Outlaws with 2:44 left to make it 9-2 in favour of Atlas at the half.

Outlaws Shut Out Of The Third Quarter

Entenmann continued his stellar play into the third quarter so he shut out the Outlaws. New York added five more goals in the third to take a commanding 14-2 lead.

Teat scored 39 seconds into the third quarter off a pass from Costabile. Teat followed that up at 2:02 to make it 11-2. Dickson scored at 5:07 off a feed from Shellenberger to make it a 10-goal game.

Atlas rounded out the scoring with Dox Aitken potting an unassisted marker at 5:51 and Costabile scoring with 4:36 left on the clock to extend the lead 14-2 heading into the fourth.

Jeff Teat Ties PLL Record

Teat opened the fourth-quarter scoring at 3:03 for point number 43 this season, leaving him one point away from tying the record.

Shellenberger scored at the 5:15 mark to put Atlas up 16-2. The Outlaws finally got to Entenmann. Justin Anderson scored at 7:55 to bring the Outlaws within 13 goals.

And then history happened. Teat got an assist on Dickson’s goal with 2:14 left for point number 44 to tie the PLL record.

The Outlaws’ Cross Ferrara rounded out the scoring on the power play with 51 seconds left to make the final score 17-4.
