Jeurys Familia Needs to be Fired!

Jeurys Familia needs to be fired! Plain and simple. He is the blemish on the face of a bullpen that has turned itself around. The time has come for Dave Dombrowski to jettison this dumpster fire. Anyone has to be better than him.

To the Unnecessary Drama

The Phillies were cruising to an easy win over the terrible Pittsburgh Pirates. With a six-run lead in the ninth inning, all they needed was for Jeurys Familia to get three quick outs. It should have been smooth sailing, right!?

Instead, he almost made us relieve that Mets game back in May. Familia allowed five runs in 1/3 of an inning. The Phillies had to call upon Seranthony Dominguez to close things out. Fortunately, Dominguez came away with a much closer than it should have been 8-7 victory.

A six-run lead seemed like an excellent opportunity to get Familia some work. Because if you can’t use a guy with a six-run lead, when can you use him?

Enough is Enough

He’s not a viable major league pitcher and has not been one the entire time in Philly. If there’s one bright side of this debacle, it’s that the Phillies’ front office can’t deny the facts any longer. He retired the first batter, but the following five reached base, capped off by Kevin Newman’s triple.

The Phillies have little wiggle room for blown games at this point in the season. Every win counts. With the trade deadline looming, the Phillies need to find anyone else. But first, Jeurys Familia needs to be fired!
