Jones Takes Over With 9 Points In Win Against Swarm

Just when all looks lost for the Philadelphia Wings they head down to Georgia and take care of business against the Swarm. Mitch Jones had himself a night with 9 points 4 goals and 5 assists. He was playing lights out! Jones sets the tone for Philly when he makes a nice behind-the-back pass to Holden Cattoni for his first goal of the night. Cattoni would return the favor, finding Jones wide open to fire one to the back of the net This was a takeover game for Jones and the Wings, whose previous seven games against Georgia were all one-goal outcomes.

Zach Higgins In Lock Down Mode

Zach Higgins for the third straight game in a row has kept the Wings’ opponents under double-digit goal totals. He made some big saves in this game. Zach Higgins is in lockdown mode, same as last week when he stopped multiple breakaway attempts from Panther City. Overall this was a great team win, they did an amazing job on both sides of the ball. Philly’s offense had great ball movement. The Wings teammates were finding each other in space and unloading to the back of the net.

This was a good confidence booster for Higgins, Jones, and the Wings. They’ll look to keep that same energy handing back home to face Vancouver on Saturday night. If there was a message that the Wings just told their fan base it’s that they’re not done yet! The Wings are back in the win column, and if they can get a win at home against Vancouver they’ll inch closer to a playoff spot.

What Do The Swarm Do Now?

The big question is what does the Georgia Swarm do now? the loss, coupled with wins by Halifax and Buffalo, drop Georgia from 4th place to 6th in the Unified Standings. How are they going to respond after this tough loss at home? Working in their favor is their remaining games (against Saskatchewan, Las Vegas, and Rochester) are all at home. But they will need to find the magic that made them early season contenders.
