In a rematch from Thursday night, the Brampton Excelsiors (3-12) visited the Cobourg Kodiaks (3-9) at the Cobourg Community Centre.
A spirited game was played with the Excelsiors coming away with an 11-10 overtime victory last Thursday. There still was major playoff implications attached to this game this evening.
The goalie match-up had Caleb Slinger in net for Brampton facing Jackson Brown in net for Cobourg.
In a very evenly played game, the Cobourg Kodiaks outlasted the Brampton Excelsiors 11-8 in Sunday evening Major Series Lacrosse action.
David Anderson recorded a Sock-Trick (6 goals) for Cobourg with Tanner Buck (0g,5a),and Tyler Hendryks (0g,4a) being the setup men.
Bowie Horsman (2g,3a) and James Whiteford (2g,1a) led the way for the Excelsiors.
To The Game:
The Kodiaks opened the scoring with Aaron Woods converting a Marshall Powless pass at 4:08, followed by David Anderson finishing a Carson Moyer feed at 5:48. Eric Ward got the Excelsiors on the board off a Pent Eistrat feed at 6:58, but Curtis Conley answered in transition finishing off a Bo Columbus pass at 7:04.
After one period, Cobourg 3 Brampton 1.
Shots on goal were 19-17 in favor of the Excelsiors.
Second Period:
Cobourg continued the offensive attack with Jonah Boehm converting a Daire Newbrough pass at 0:35 seconds, followed by David Anderson scoring his second of rhe game off a Cole Hanrahan feed at 1:56.
Connor O’Toole replaced Caleb Slinger in the Excelsiors net.
Bowie Horsman got the Excelsiors rolling, converting a Josh Medeiros feed at 8:37 on the power-play, followed by James Whiteford also scoring on the power-play off a Bowie Horsman pass at 13:04. Tyler Ferreira brought Brampton within one goal converting a James Whiteford pass at 15:50.
David Anderson scored the next two goals for Cobourg. The first was off a Carson Moyer pass at 16:16, followed by converting an Aaron Woods feed 0:29 seconds later. Rory Graham got one back for the Excelsiors off an Eric Ward pass at 17:52.
After two periods, Cobourg 7, Brampton 5.
Shots on goal were 23-19 in favor of the Excelsiors.
Third Period:
Connor McClelland got Brampton within a goal finishing off a Chris Willman pass at 0:17 seconds, but David Anderson answered back converting a Marshall Powless pass 0:22 seconds later. James Whiteford got the Excelsiors close again scoring off a Bowie Horsman pass at 8:00, but again David Anderson scored to give the Kodiaks a two goal lead off a Tyler Hendryks pass at 10:28. Carson Moyer then scored off a Cole Hanrahan feed at 11:00 to open a three goal Kodiak lead.
Steven Portelli got the Excelsiors on the board again scoring off a Bowie Horsman feed at 14:17, but Aaron Woods scored with 1:38 left. Bowie Horsman scored his second of the night for Brampton off a Lucas Ferreira feed at 19:42.
Final score, Cobourg 11 Brampton 9.
Shots on goal were in favor of Cobourg 18-15, for a game total of 57-54 in favor of the Excelsiors.

Gary Groob has been involved with Lacrosse for the majority of his life, whether playing, coaching, or covering the sport for the media.
An avid fan, with a real drive about helping to “grow the game”, Gary became part of podcasts about the game in 2010. Through the podcasts, Mr. Groob was given an opportunity to write about lacrosse, and the rest as they say, is history.
Through many miles (flying and driving) Gary has made inroads with the National Lacrosse League, Major Series Lacrosse League, the Ontario Lacrosse Association, as well as the Arena Lacrosse League, covering the leagues, their teams, and players, working for, and in concert with all of them.
In the year 2020, Mr. Groob was made the media person for the Arena Lacrosse League, voted onto the board of directors of the Brampton Excelsiors Lacrosse Club, as well as being made administrator of the Lacrosse page “Global Lacrosse” with a membership of 9000 members in over 90 Countries. Gary was also made an administrator of Lacrosse History Past Present and Future in 2022.
Mr. Groob co-hosts a weekly Lacrosse show on Spanglish Sports World, and ZingoTV channel 250, as well as writes a weekly lacrosse column for La Portada Canada News (both in print, and online).
Gary also hosts a Lacrosse talk show and podcast for The Edge of Philly Sports Network, seen live Sunday nights at 9pm (ET), and archived on the Edge of Philly YouTube page, as well as Spotify.
Mr. Groob’s other sports interests include Hockey, Football, Boxing, Wrestling, and Baseball, competing competitively in Boxing and Wrestling for many years.
