A battle of two Top ranked DI Ladies Squads Turned Out to be A Dominating One Side Affair.
The #5 Lady Blue Devils of Duke (15-2, 6-2 ACC) ventured into Chapel Hill NC. To challenge the #1 UNC Lady Tarheels (15-0, 8-0 ACC).
UNC came in riding a 40 game winning streak…make it 41.

A failrly even first quarter quickly became a romp with UNC having a statement 18-4 victory.
To the Game
With1:30 played, Elizabeth Hillman (1g) put the Heels in front
Less than two minutes passed before the score doubled when Scottie Rose Growney (6g,2a) nailed her 33rd with help from Jamie Ortega.
Duke answered with Catriona Barry (1g) hitting her 53rd off an assist from Katie DeSimone.
Katie Keller (1g) put home her 21st and the Duke offense would be put to sleep for the next 41:38.
Growney ended the stanza with an unassisted goal for her 34th and a 3-2 UNC lead.
Let the Blowout Take Off
An incredible 16 goal run resumed off a pair from Ally Masteoianni (4g) followed by Jamie Ortega (4g,3a) notching goals at 9:16 and 3:43.
Growney and Mastroianni closed the half with a 9-2 Heels advantage.
It Continues.
The deluge continued with a 4-0 third fueled with Growney setting up Ortega on a power play tally, Andie Aldave (2g,1a) even strength and a power play Mastroianni marker added to the deluge..
Ortega setting up Growney’s 36th brought the curtain down after 45:00 with UNC all but locking it down with a 13-2 advantage.
Fourth:
Carolina continued the deluge with Growney hitting her 37th, Aldave for her 37th, Ortega hitting for her 53rd.
Olivia Dirks (1g) and Amanda Fedor (1g) brought the uprising to 16 goals
After 41:38, Duke got markers from Veronica Hinenan (1g) and with :25 on the clock,Desimone with her 53rd to end the Tar Heels 18-4 ambush.
Odds and Ends:
• The Tar Heels claim.the ACC regular season title and move on the ACC Tourney as the #1 seed.
• UNC had a 31-18 shot advantage with 25 to 12 on net.
• Turnovers revealed 16 for Duke and 6 for UNC.
• Ground balls favored the ‘Heels, 12-6.
• Kennedy Everson had 4 saves with 11 goals in her 33:05. Chase Henrique put in @?20:27 with a half dozen goals and a pair of stops.
Shaye Fitzpatrick appeared for 6:28 with a goal and a save for Duke.
• Taylor Moreno stopped 8 and improved her UNC record to an astounding 63-6.
