Legends of the Game

In the thirty-second edition of “Legends of the Game” we look at the career of David “Boots” Succamore.

The article is from the “Legends of our Game” magazine from 1993, put together by the Committee of OLA Jr. “A” governors.

Here is the article in it’s entirety…

During his 16 years playing in the Rexdale/Etobicoke program, David won numerous Ontario Championships, was a Minto Cup finalist in 1983 and a sponsor of Junior “A” for three years.

Boots’ numerous accolades through Junior, Major and Pro lacrosse include – member 1982 Team Canada (Junior) Field Lacrosse; 1985 Rookie of the Year, 1986 M.V.P. with Brampton Excelsiors (Major); best defense, runner-up in team scoring with Peterborough Lakers 1988; Major All-Star; member 1985 Team Canada World Box Lacrosse Champions; member Detroit Turbos (M.I.L.L.), winning 2 division championships and World Championship in 1991; Seventh Man Award winner for Detroit Turbos in 1993; treasurer of Major Indoor Lacrosse League Players Association 1992-93.

David has been a major contributor to the sport off the floor and field as well. As a player coach at West Humber he helped organize the Etobicoke High School lacrosse programme, served as referee-in-chief, and even made five sets of goal frames. His patience and perservance were rewarded with an Ontario “A” High School championship.

Boots continues to give back to the sport that gave him so much, as coach of the Junior “A” Burlington Chiefs.
