The (20-32-11) Philadelphia Flyers went into the Motor City to take on the Detroit Red Wings (26-30-7) with Detroit scoring a 6-3 win. Hard to win when you fall behind, 3-0. Let the rebuild begin.
“I thought we regrouped and came out hard in the third period, Obviously, there’s some things we can be better at execution-wise. We had some turnovers tonight and we’ve got to be a little bit sharper there. I did like the way the guys kept battling back for each other here tonight, just didn’t find a way to tie it up.” Flyers interim Coach, Mike Yeo.

How it Happened
In typical 2021-22 fashion, another less than stellar effort from Philadelphia. Falling behind when Joe Valeno scored his 7th at 5:17 with helpers from Givani Smith and Filip Hronek. Detroit was just getting started with Jakub Vrana doubled the lead with help from Tyler Bertuzzi and Pius Suter to end the opening stanza with the home team in front, 2-0.
“It’s huge for our confidence to get the lead and then get the win, We have had to be honest with ourselves and know we weren’t playing well enough on the road trip, but tonight we really came to play.” Jakub Vrana.
To the Second
Things snowballed for Philadelphia with Lucas Raymond converting off Dylan Larkin and Gustav Lindstrom at 1:07 of the second. Philly fought back with Joel Farabee lighting the lamp just twenty-five seconds after the Raymond goal and it became a 3-1 contest. 6:24 would elapse before Oskar Lindblom made good on the second assist from Travis Konecny and Kevin Hayes. With12:09 left in the period, Vrana lit the lamp for a second time and the second closed with Detroit holding a two-goal lead, 4-2.
Can Philly Come Back?
James van Riemsdyk cut it to 4-3 with eight and a half to play. That would be all Philadelphia could muster. Oskar Sundqvist and Tyler Bertuzzi it the open Flyers net for the 6-3 final. Philadelphia has not won a road game in 2022, going 0-13 in that span.

Post Mortum
The Larkin assist gave him his 350th career point. Lundqvist made his Red Wings debut after being acquired from St. Louis at the deadline. Carter Hart stopped 25 of the 29 he faced. Detroit had a total of 31 shots.
For the Red Wings, Alex Nedejkovic faced 33 Flyers shots and stopped 30. Due to trades and injuries, the Flyers used 11 forwards and 7 defensemen. Perhaps taking a page from the Philadelphia book, Detroit won for just the second time in their last nine. Let the rebuild begin.
