Let the Second Guessing Begin, Phils Lose

Let the second guessing begin. For the second time in a week, Phillies Manager, Joe Girardi, made q questionable decision about his pitcher. Zack Wheeler, while pitching a gem, came out for the ninth inning after having escaped trouble in the 8th. Wheeler allowed a Yandy Diaz base-hit followed by a Kevin Kiermaier double before Francisco Meija crushed a three-run shot to give Tampa a 7-4 victory for their fourth consecutive victory,

Wheeler went 8 innings allowing 10 hits, 5 earned runs, and 10 strikeouts off 102 pitches. Andrew McCutchen scored on a double-play ball. Wander Franco evened things with a double and scored when McCutchen dropped a fly ball. Yandy Diaz brought home the third run with a single. Followed by Brandon Lowe with a solo shot. Bryce Harper crushed a ball for a two-run homer and the teams were knotted up at 3-3.

Tampa took a 4-3 lead off an infield ground out from Randy Arozarena but, in the 8th, JT Realmuto led off with a sharp single which brought up Bryce Harper who bounced into a double play. Just when things looked bleak, Rhys Hoskins nailed the first pitch into the left-field seats to make it 4-4.

Then came the fateful ninth. Tampa leads the Majors with 253 runs scored after the sixth inning and improves to 79-43 for the season while Philadelphia drops to 63-62. Let the second guessing begin.
